Getting Started Guide

We have prepared everything you need to host a field trip, including a breakdown of resources and step by step checklists to help you along the way.

Lesson Plans

These lesson plans have been designed and reviewed extensively with the help of STEM Learning so they are suitable for the UK education environment.  The aim of these resources is to introduce young people to the career opportunities available in golf and the skills and knowledge required to do these jobs.  This set of 13 activities has been designed to give greenkeepers, some ideas on how to run some STEM based sessions for pupils aged 9 to 11 and students aged 11-14.

Remember that you are not expected to deliver the curriculum to the young people, but enhance learning, inspire, and show them how what they learn in the classroom links to the real world.

Additional First Green Resources

Many of the supplies needed for the various stations held during a First Green field trip are already available at the golf course. There is a complete list of the required materials for each station within each STEM lesson plan.

Greenkeeping Career Promotional Resources

Attending career fairs and events at schools and colleges is a fantastic way to promote greenkeeping as a career in your local community.

Keep an eye on this page for the latest updates on careers fairs and ways you can participate. Meanwhile, we’ve made some eye-catching resources that you can download and print to take with you. If you have any suggestions for other helpful materials, feel free to reach out to Jenny at [email protected]

Posters

We designed these posters to illustrate how diverse a career in greenkeeping can be. They look fantastic when showcased at career fairs and similar events.
